I used to have a pretty strong marketing edge. For other people's work. But never my own. I could organise exhibitions, sell, speak confidently, etc.

But I'm finding with my own work I can't do that. It's not that I don't want to make money. It's that I think there's a reluctance to let my paintings go. I know it sounds silly but I don't always know where they're going or what the people are like - what if they treat my paintings badly!
And while I'm writing this, I'm thinking how silly it sounds.

However yesterday after much soul searching, I made some positive steps in making myself more business orientated. From looking into tax and accounts to contacting galleries and exhibition venues. All of it was very positive and hopefully something will come out of it.

It still doesn't sit right but I suppose if I look at it from the point of view that it's all about getting better known rather than coldly selling my paintings, then it's not so bad.

Incidentally I set up a website. I have no clue how to do the links etc. so I'll just put the website address here and if anyone wants to tell me I'm breaking rules etc. if you can also tell me how to make it into a link instead I'd be extremely grateful!!! I am not technically minded at all!!
